If I heard correctly today, you can also use your Maverick Mac to act as an "AirPlay server" and receive a copy of your AirPlay signal on the Mac too. Perhaps you haven't considered that you can, I suspect, actually use FaceTime on an iOS device (and in Maverick, also on a Mac, I think) and use AirPlay to transmit the FaceTime call to your Apple TV. It sounds like you are calling for run-of-the-mill webcams that aren't secure. But it doesn't sound like you are calling for that. I suppose Apple could build a new proprietary connector on a new Apple TV which could support a new proprietary external webcam from Apple that could mitigate these issues. How do you suggest this would work when using an Apple TV (with an external display)? Would the Apple TV lose the direct trusted connection between the camera and the Secure Enclave? (There is a Secure Enclave on Apple TV, but no connection to any camera.) On Macs, MacBooks, iPhones, iPads and iMacs there is a direct physical connection from the camera to the Secure Enclave for several reasons including the security of FaceTime calls. When working out in a group through SharePlay, users will see their metrics and progress toward closing their Activity rings, while also seeing and hearing friends. Although we both have enjoyed what Apple was aiming for with this feature, as time passed by – and the pandemic eased – it seems I have never tried SharePlay again. ![]() While SharePlay was in beta, Filipe Espósito and I tried a few times some of these experiences to see how they would go. Since its release, users can take on a lot of different experiences while on a FaceTime call with a friend or a group of people such as listening to songs with Apple Music, watching a new Disney+ movie, TikTok videos, or even playing games altogether. With screen sharing support, users can also browse the web together, look at photos, or show their friends something in a favorite app. SharePlay extends to Apple TV so users can watch on the big screen while using FaceTime on iPhone or iPad. After three months of its official release, how often do you use this feature, if you ever do? ![]() Ultimately, SharePlay got delayed and Apple only launched this feature with iOS 15.1 in December last year. This function would let you watch TV shows, play games, listen to songs, study, and even more with someone else while on a FaceTime call. During WWDC21, Apple previewed the SharePlay feature coming to all of its devices with iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and macOS 12 Monterey.
